Expanding Pakistan’s presence in space for commercial and strategic purposes, SUPARCO, has sent a proposal to the government for financing of the RSSS project, through which the country can attain imaging facilities, currently used by advanced countries for surveying and mapping of earth.
As part of Space Programme 2040, the proposed satellite, next in the BADAR series, will carry a number of engineering evaluation and scientific experiments including those from Research and Development organisations, academic institutions and other national agencies.
Pakistan had launched its first satellite PAKSAT-1R in collaboration with neighboring country China.
PAKSAT-1R, that was launched in August last year has a design life of 15 years. It provides TV broadcasting, internet and data communication services across South and Central Asia, Eastern Europe, East Africa and the Far East.
PAKSAT-1R project was completed by SUPARCO with the cooperation of China’s Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC).

Good work....keep moving with your plan

With 28 years to go, what's the rush? After I get married, have kids, they grow up and go to college, then they can work on the satellite and still launch it with time to spare.
Pakistan's satellite program is like distribution of laptops when most children are unable to even afford to go to schools. In a country where the citizens don't even have the basic facilities of life, what is the use of a space program? In advanced countries this is a self sustained industry, not something on which billions of government money is spent. We need to make our priorities right. When each and every citizen of Pakistan has food to eat, place to live and work to do, then we should think of making imaging satellites.
@Shoaib:
Joint is a tricky word. Exactly how much of the joint production was done by Pakistan side?
Pakistanis are like magicians. India puts lots of effort and finally launches a spy satellite or a missile. After 5 days, Pakistani takes out its satellite or missile like a magician from hankerchief and launches it. Almost all the future advanced technology is hidden in their handkerchiefs, only comes out after India gets to it. Something to think about.
If someone says we are a failed state, they better get their heads inspected. Great job SUPARCO.
India recently delivered a spy satellite in space. Pakistan was set to follow. By hook or by crook they will soon put something up there and in very short time. Rivalary has benefits indeed! :D
Great Job SUPARCO.
@Umer: No ot is not. The launch vehicle was Chinese but the production was joint. Also Badar program is different than this because Badar is 20 years old program and it is a continuation of that program of the past.
"PAKSAR-1R" was a Chinese satellite launched by China. From what we heard at the time it was even financed by China. What has SUPARCO got to do with it?
@Adeel: Brother you are absolutely wrong. Badr is a satellite program and Pakistan dont have such thing as any Rocket system at present that could put Pakistani satellite into Orbit. There is no such thing as BADR missile as BADR project is a satellite project. The only project known for Satellites is Taimur but nobody hear about it anymore. That is why i emphasized that one dedicated program should be for Satellites and one dedicated program should be for the launch rockets which are commonly known as Orbital Launch systems. Pakistan at present only have dedicated Satellite Production program but they dont have any Launch vehicle program at present. I suggest you to study Orbital launch systems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launch_vehicle
@Hasan Awan: I read somewhere that our BADR missile is capable of sending sattelites into space, don't know how true that is. We definitely need an indigenous SLV.
Please SPARCO it is my request to work in two fields. One is the indigenous Satellite Production and the second is Orbital delivery system. Without Orbital delivery systems like SLVs ( Satellite launch vehicles) we will will not be able to have a fully indigenous satellite industry. So it is a good step but please work on SLV project as well.
