Speaking from an undisclosed location on Tuesday, Asim denied reports published in a Peshawar based Urdu daily which stated that the Taliban had decided to hand over the escaped prisoners to the government as their sole aim was to release Adnan Rashid.
Rashid, a former junior technician of the Pakistan Air force, was one of the 384 prisoners who escaped the Bannu Central jail in an attack by the TTP on April 15. Rashid was allegedly involved in the murder plot of former President Pervez Musharraf.
“There were no talks between the government and the TTP for the release of the prisoners, neither any plans to hand them back to the government” Asim said.
Commenting on the condition of the escaped prisoners, the TTP spokesperson said that all prisoners had reached safe locations.

We strongly condemn the blatant threats of the terrorists to carry out attacks to free convicted murderers and killers. Is this not sad that terrorists without any hesitations have been threatening the writ of the government? In the recent months have we not seen the terrorist become more daring in their attacks on civilian and military institutions? They have killed scores of innocents in the process. Is this not time to regroup against these enemies of peace and go after them from all sides? Unless we do so the threats and attacks will continue and peace will be a rare commodity in the region.

@Pakistan politics: Can you please give the names of terrorists that 'rightly' interpret Islam and jihad for their self-centered aims and objectives?
.....and still we do nothing about the Madrassas and their sponsors.
De/Weaponize is the solution
Soft targets will continue to exist all around Pakistan. Everything simply cannot be defended against large assaults with the limited resources available. War on terror has failed in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Only solution is removal of occupying NATO forces and negotiations internally.
@Meekal Ahmed: "why are such people in our country and can nothing be done to eliminate them?"
This is the outcome of good terrorists vs bad terrorist policy i.e. trying to eliminate bad terrorists like TTP but arming and funding 'good' terrorists like Afghan Taliban , Haqqanis, and LeT. The fact is money and weapons are fungible. Unless funding and weapons are denied to ALL terrorists, this problem cannot be solved.
At a smaller scale this good extremist vs bad extremist issue is being played out in Lyari. Until recently the Amn committee were the good extremists from PPP perspective (ask Zulfiqar Mirza) and allowed to get free access to weapons. Today they are have given a tough fight to a contingent of 2000 policemen who have been unable to establish their writ over Lyari in 5 days.
Oh come on. Where's the apologist defense team? Can't you bend at least something? You don't need it to make sense any other time.
why are such people in our country and can nothing be done to eliminate them?
@Mirza: they wrongly interpret Islam and jihad for their self-centered aims and objectives
This means that Taliban already started their homework for the next assault. But the question is weather any home work is being done by our Police so far?. Everyone knows that the next Target of Taliban is Bahawalpur Jail or Adiala Jail as they two jails are known for Taliban prisoners. According to the people some suspicious activity could be seen around Bahawalpur owing to the Reeki of the Assault is being done by Taliban and some rented houses are being taken around Bahawalpur and in even in Rawalpindi by them and where is our government right now.?????
They are preparing another assault while Our government is nowhere to be seen. Even there are reports that Federal Government is not securing these Jails as they are in Punjab so they could blame Punjab governments afterwards for their bad governance and lack of Training.
So these are your so called Assets ! The POTUS is visiting across the border, has he bothered to make a call on you yet? Do you know why not? Because you can not be trusted,as a partner or as a responsible Nation by the rest of the World ! This was a INSIDE JOB ! Wake Up !!!!!!
Pakistani Media! you are pathetic, I did not read this news at all… Why you give coverage to these psychopaths? They are Botchers, they are inhumane and rotten pigs!! They do not deserve to be in my Pakistan
Everyone from top to the bottom of the interior ministry should watch Harrison Ford 1993 movie “The Fugitive” and compare and contrast there response for 350 escapee verses two inmates in this movie in terms of resources devoted, professionalism and zeal to discharge ones duty without getting personal with the escapee.
Gov. and Military was involved in Bannu Jail break, read detailed analysis on BBC urdu
haha the so called bad taliban are becoming worse and worse. I wonder when some 'very cunning and smart' people will realize that the good taliban the wet dream about is the other side of the same coin. if afghanistan burns then it is justice in a way that pakistan toon burns. the ball is in pakistan's court. i hope they for once in their 65 year existence show some courage and leave the dollars aside. save afghanistan(your muslim brother!) from burning if you want to save yourself.
Yet some always insist that they are Pakistan's friends and assets. In fact these terrorists are number one enemy of Pakistani civilians due to their cowardly and brutal attacks. Is this also a part of their Jihad?
