KARACHI:

The Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology has invited applications for admission to a one-year diploma programme in diabetes education.

The curriculum is based on recommendations of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Prospective candidates should submit applications by May 5, while the entrance test will take place on May 10.

Candidates need to have a Bachelor’s degree (BSc, BA, BCom or equivalent). However, students of food and nutrition, pharmacy and physiology departments and those having a diploma in nursing will be preferred. Final selection will depend on the student’s performance on the entry test and the interview. A referral letter from a practicing physician will also be required.

The one-year course will be divided into two parts, with students taking theoretical and practical classes at the institute for the first three months, followed by nine months of an internship at the clinical facility of the student’s referring physician.
