‘Honour’ crime: Man kills daughter, husband

Killed for contracting marriage without his consent.

BAHAWALPUR: A man confessed on Sunday to killing his daughter and her husband in Sadiqabad for contracting marriage without his consent. Rana Anwar told The Express Tribune that his daughter Iqra had married thier neighbor, Faiz, without his permission a few months ago and run away. He said that he had been looking for her ever since. “She called me recently asking for forgiveness and said she wanted to meet her family,” he said. He said he told her to also bring her husband. “When they arrived, I stabbed them to death,” he said. City SHO Mohammad Aslam Khan said he did not believe Anwar, 55, could have killed the couple without assistance. In another incident, Mohammad Sohrab allegedly killed his wife in Taj Garah village in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday suspecting her of having illicit relations.He was arrested by Iqbalabad police.
