ISLAMABAD:

The city police on Saturday initiated a special crackdown against guest houses allegedly working as fronts for brothels, suspected bootleggers and outlaws, arresting thirteen persons in the process. The police said they also recovered over a dozen liquor bottles, guns and looted items from the arrested persons’ possession, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

On a tip off, Shalimar Police Station House Officer Abdul Rasheed Niazi got a search warrant and led a raiding party in to a guest house on Sunmbal Road in Sector F-10/3, from where eight drunkards were nabbed.

In a separate raid by the Shalimar police on a hotel in F-10 Markaz, five suspects including two women were arrested for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.

The police said the raids were conducted on directives from Inspector General of Police Bani Amin ordering a crackdown on guest houses involved in illegal activities.
