During the meeting, Gilani thanked members of the federal cabinet for their support and said that it would not have been possible for him to perform his duties without it.
All the chief ministers except Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif attended the meeting.
According to sources, the prime minister, while sharing his views on the court’s verdict with the cabinet said that he has never offended the courts.
Gilani said that he was expecting “real” justice from the courts and prayed for it as well but the judiciary denied granting it.
He said that it was the prerogative of the speaker of the National Assembly to decide the members of the house.
He also lauded the solidarity and support expressed by coalition partners and said, “The allies have always supported us in challenging times and stood by us.”
Sources added that the prime minister discussed the post verdict strategy and the decision of the appeal would be made by his legal experts and would be prepared in consultation with coalition partners.
He said that the complete verdict had not been given yet, adding that further details would be provided by the law minister.
“Politics has lots of ups and downs. It has a lot of problems. It is a long way and a hard way,” said Gilani. He likened politics to a “horror movie” that only adults could watch and not the weak.
He said that if one opts for this role (politics), then struggle and problems become a part of the role. “Working with coal will make your hands black too”, he said.

Oh, the "Criminals" only according to the "Rules" made by their peers, always have been part of historically successful empires and gov'ts. When decency and justice leave the dinner tables of politics, to match the opponents staunch leaders have always brought unlawful but clever athletes to the field in past too to succeed in a cut-throat competition where in reality all are crooks who just use the system of justice for convenience or revenge.
That's the natural power play we need to teach our students of politics not the one that we tell our kids for their soft brains. The Romans, The Ottomans, The Mongols, The British and the Modern Super Powers are all involved in such games hand-over-fist.
“Working with coal will make your hands black too”, he said. In fact he is working in a coal mine - Zardari and his cronies are no less than a coal mine.
What a sad, sorry state we are in, A criminal, a convict running the country affairs.
I think its fair ! Because PPP and Gilani should not have been given a chance to become a SIASI SHAHEED. Then what if Gilani is still PM; just 5 to 8 months are left.
That blessed or blasted letter The chaos will contiue and intensify with every passing day, with the PM side making nonsense of the SC verdict through legal and political means and on the street. The Opposition will continue to add their mite to the situation. If at any stage a new PM has to be brought in - I doubt it very much - as a consequence of the SC verdict, the new PM, too, will commit contempt of court. The battle will ultimately be decided in the Parliament. The casualty, in the process, will be the present higher judiciary. Of course, the assumptions underpinning the scenario are that social and economic situation will remain relatively unattended the military will not intervene. The blessed or blasted letter will not be written in the foreseeable future. We have until now defied all logic or reason and will continue to do so. It is therefore possible that something else may happen. God bless Pakistan and so help me God.
Have some moral (if you have) Mr Prime Minister and resign, then fight for your case, that's what a democratic govt. does.
So now convicts will run this country. Has the ruling party no shame?
A convicted criminal making decisions for the lives of 180 million people. Today, we have sunk to a new low.
Those who are at a loss to understand Pakistan's fundamental problem should take this case as Exhibit A: just sheer disregard of any covenant, agreement, or norm. Either judicial judgement will be amazingly twisted (Justice Munir's judgment which created Doctrine of Necessity,) or it will be pushed under the rug (Justice Hamoodur Rahman's Commission Report,) or it will be shamelessly disregarded (today's Supreme Court's Contempt Verdict.) A nation that refuses to live under law is doomed to live without it.
