LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Hamid Hussain on Monday released a couple and their daughter, who were accused of poisoning their daughter-in-law, after the victim’s family pardoned them.

Syed Bakht Baidar Shah, his wife Razia Sultana and his daughter Asia Batool were accused of poisoning Majeedan Bibi, wife of Syed Qadir Shah. They were forgiven by Abdul Kareem and Sakina Bibi, the parents of the deceased, “in the name of Allah” after they reached a compromise, according to court documents. It was not clear what the compromise was.

According to the FIR, registered on Majeedan’s statement to the police from her death bed in hospital, the accused poisoned her when she went to meet her husband at his home in Dharampura on January 16. The FIR was registered under Sections 324 (attempted murder) and 337-J (causing hurt by poison). Section 302 (murder) was added after Majeedan’s death.
