Football: Hammam decision due in June

GENEVA: Former Fifa presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam will have to wait until the end of June before discovering whether his appeal against a lifetime ban for corruption has been successful. He is fighting allegations that he tried to buy Fifa delegates’ votes while campaigning to unseat the world body’s long-standing president, Sepp Blatter, in a leadership election. During a two-day hearing this week the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) listened to lawyers and witnesses for both parties.”The panel will now start its deliberations and prepare the Arbitral Award which should be issued by the end of June 2012,” CAS said in a statement.
