The demanded came forward after a meeting of different stakeholders held at Sangu Lane, Lyari, attended by leaders of Lyari, civil society and members of some political and religious parties.
Habib Jan Baloch, a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, after the meeting told PPI that Sindh governor has shown through his actions that he is not representing the federation of Pakistan, rather he is part of his political party and working on the orders of his party leader.
He said that the meeting called for an impartial and even-handed operation across the city in light of instructions of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and reports presented by law enforcement agencies during the in-camera session.
He said that different stakeholders of Lyari have formed an alliance called "Karachi City Alliance" in an attempt to restore peace in the violence prone area.
The meeting announced an ad-hoc organising committee which will initially run the alliance for three months following which its formal office-bearers would be announced. The committee would comprise Sardar Uzair Jan, Malik Ayub Awan, Zaffar Jandher, Allama Muhammad Asghar, S M Altaf Advocate and others.
People belonging to Lyari living in various cities of the country will also participate in the alliance. Lyariites living in abroad including USA, Canada, UK and France will also make an Overseas Committee which will be led by Major (retd) Nadim Dar, while Barrister Ali Khan will be the legal advisor for KCA.
Habib Jan announced that the KCA will be staging a peaceful walk from Tower to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam on April 27, 2012, after Friday prayers which will be attended by people from all walks of the life holding Pakistan flags and white ‘peace’ flags.

people live in karachi, earn in karachi, they called them self baloch, pathan, sindhi and send money to thier home towns. They work in karachi police and everyone knows about police. Same people joined different security companises and involved in kidnapping, and dacoties. Only MQM can bring peace by throwing these elemnets outside karachi. Karachi should be for the people who owned karachi, we need Mustafa Kamal. MQM is great party , terrorist ans Islamic extremist scared from MQM discipline and strenght.
@Salman Orangiwala: Majority and yet scared to mention the name? And its Devil Hunter X. Reading comprehension is important, even on the internet.
@Pakistan Zindabad: Karachi is of those who are born in karachi, live in karachi, earn in karachi, spend in karachi & above all when the die they are buried in karachi, karachi is not of those who just live & earn in karachi but send their money out of karachi & when they die they donot want to be buried in karachi , but buried back home in their "Mullak"
Orangiwala Sb, majority in no way equates to 100% it means anything above 51% and below 100% (basic math in english) & 40% OF THE VOTES AS PER SUPREME COURT ARE SUSPECT. Having said that it is very true that the Quiads party has developed Karachi in a wonderful way...which is very evident to all citizens of Karachi, However another reality is that THERE ARE other ethnic backgrounds WHICH have existed in Karachi since its name was Kolachi, we KARACHIWALLAS all should learn to peacefully coexist and learn to tolerate others mistakes....only then we will be good human beings, fighting only leads to more violence and in the end despite the very sad and ugly score card of death ... ALL DO SIT AND RESOLVE THE MATTER ON TABLE, nothing is impossible if you have the will and determination to bring peace. then i also blame the print for giving such undue importance to various negative elements who claim to hold the mandate when the only thing they hold is a gun, GUNS HAVE NEVER RESOLVED ANYTHING ...please visit history. have a nice day and Pakistan Zindabad.
@Devil Hunter , dont be so naive , you know exactly what i mean .Any doubt can be removed by a mere stroll out of your neighborhood that is , if you care to .
@Salman Orangiwala: Who is we? Do you have the statistics of ethic groups in Karachi? DO tell us.
@ Devil Hunter We are the majority in Karachi , we would decide who would be the .Governor of Karachi and not by the adrifted lost souls from the Punjab or KPK on Lucifers payroll . Period .Like it or leave it
shahi syed asking for army from long but no one want to listen ANP...i support new move
@king_herbie@hotmail.com: explain why he left Pakistan and would not return till he was made Governor again.
Yes. I agree. Let peace once again come to Karachi where people feel safe
plz do somthing for karachi peace.insaniat k liye thanks.
city alliance is composed of all criminals, look at habib Jan baloch and uzair baloch, biggest bhatta khors of Karachi.
The governor is a very wonderful person. This is the reason why despite his resignation last year the entire PPP including the president did not accept the resignation and demanded his return. The religous mufti's such as mufti naeem carried out a press conference demanding his return. So clearly whether it was Musharraf, Jamaat e Islami or PPP everyone is comfortable in working with ishrat Ul Ebad khan. By the way Habib jan baloch of PPP should demand the same from Zardari as he is definitely not representing the federation!
So, the terrorist of Peoples Aman Committee take a new name just for getting some space on media and channels after concerned voices raised not to air the gangsters of Lyari as they provoke violence creating ethnic divides. Habib Jan involved in attacks on Police and a patron of Uzair Baloch in absence of Zulfiqar Mirza. Down with gangsters.
Lyari is not Karachi, it is a part of Karachi. To pretend to speak for the whole city is quite presumptious. In its' first public announcement "KCA" is attacking one of the main stakeholders, MQM, and thereby establishing its biased approach, and therefore becoming a part of the problem instead of a solution. It will behoove well for these people to first undertake improvement of Lyari, one of the poorest, dirtiest, uneducated, and lawless areas of the City. It is also a den of drugs and arms peddling and kidnapping for ransom. Cleaning it up will go a long way towards solving the problem of Karachi.
Looking at the names of the people involved it seems as an anti-MQM group. They should have included Jamaat e Islami and MQM-Haqeeqi to complete the team.
That something needs to be done to stop the hemorraghing and devastation of Karachi is a given, but this group does not seem to be an answer, or part thereof.
Totally support the city alliance. This is democracy. But army is not the solution. Please remove dependency on the army. Get rid of the elected politicians ( by not voting them again) in the next election.
I wish other neighborhoods also follow this example and create a neighborhood watch group. Well done, Lyari.
It is time to think that we are all Pakistan and not an individual who speaks a different language.
Killing and fighting with each other is a sign of illiteracy.
We should think above all that thee is one Pakistan and all are Pakistanis and have equal status. No one is above the other person. Every one has an equal right.
For the sake of peace and tranquility and brotherhood, every one should join hands and make a human chain with no political party flags, but one flag and that is the Pakistani Flag which is higher than ay other political party flag.is
@ Karachiite no where..trust me mqm is safer with army...karachi was safer with army...mqm will not be touched...and i only wonder why they never ask shahi syed to leave? or any of the terrorists from lyari to be caputred and prosecuted...they are doing nothing different from what mqm does!
Its a good idea. 1-Bring the Army 2-Remove the Governor and install a new Bipartisan Governor 3-All Criminals (whether MQM or PPP/ANP) have cases against them should brought to justice. Otherwise karachi will become another Beirut of 1980s.
Habib Jan, Uzair Jan - this is PAC hahahahaha...what an idiotic story
Think about this: The President, Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Sindh Chief Minister, Sindh Home Minister, Lyari's MNA, Lyari's MPAs, all belong to the PPP. These people have direct responsibility towards security in Lyari. However, whose removal does this alliance demand?: MQM's governer. Therefore, it is obvious that this alliance is sponsored by PPP with an anti-MQM agenda, having no real interest in peace for Lyari.
If army comes then where will the MQM folks run?
i welcome formation of City Alliance, It is important for the people to support this alliance. I agree with the demand that Ishrat Ibaad be suspended and the city be handed over to the Army. This is the only way Karachi could be from the shackles of MQM.
The army is part of the problem
