A Supreme Court probe team investigating the Ephedrine case has summoned director general of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Zafar Abbass on April 10, Express News reported on Sunday.

Abbass had prevented investigation into the matter of distribution of Ephedrine beyond its officially declared quota and has been summoned now to explain his actions.

According to sources Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Health Minister Khusnood Lashari may also be summoned by the investigating team.

Prime Minister’s son Ali Musa Gilani is also accused of involvement in this multi-billion financial scam regarding the distribution of Ephedrine.

The case regarding the illegal sale of ephedrine was registered on October 10 last year, after two pharmaceutical companies were accused of obtaining export quotas for the drug in collusion with the health ministry officials that exceeded the limits fixed by the INCB.
