LAHORE: The relatives of a woman who wed against her family’s wishes beat up her husband at the Lahore High Court on Thursday and then took her away with them. Ambreen and Sultan, who wed in January, came to the High Court for confirmation of the latter’s bail in a kidnapping case registered by Sadar police station, Jhang, on a complaint from Ambreen’s family. Sultan had already secured pre-arrest bail from the High Court.  However, before the court proceedings, some 20 men from Ambreen’s family set upon Sultan with kicks and fists, leaving him with torn clothes. No one came to his aid as he was beaten up. The attackers left the court with Ambreen.  Justice Sheikh Najamul Hassan later extended Sultan’s interim bail till April 19.
