ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday directed the police to bar any processions, protests and rallies in the red zone in the wake of unspecified security threats. The minister passed the directives following a meeting with the city’s police chief, chief commissioner, and other senior officials. Malik said the station house officer and the superintendent of police responsible for the area must ensure the implementation of the directives. He also sought a report within two weeks about housing societies that are not working according to relevant rules and regulations. Malik also questioned the chief commissioner over officers holding the same post for over three years each in the city administration. He directed the police chief to further enhance security in the city.
