According to sources, the police said that they have recovered the remaining three persons namely, Gul Mir, Mir Jan and Amir Khan.
Earlier, the chief justice had directed the Inspector General of Police Balochistan and other concerned police officers to recover the seven missing persons who had been picked up from the Sayrab area of Quetta on March 1, 2012.
The court had warned that it will suspend the IG and others if they failed to produce the seven missing persons before the court.
However, there has been no confirmation by any senior police official about the recovery of the remaining three missing persons.
“Police informed us that three more of our missing relatives were recovered and we were asked to reach Civil Lines police station,” relatives of the missing persons told the media before going into the station.
“We met the remaining three missing people that have been recovered by police,” the relatives said after their meeting. They thanked the Chief Justice for taking interest into this serious humantarian issue.
Earlier, police had produced four missing persons before the Chief Justice during the hearing of the case about the deteriorating law and order and human rights situation in Balochistan.
The police had said during the hearing that they will produce the remaining three before the court by April 12, 2012.
It is pertinent to mention here that the relatives of the seven missing persons have recorded their statement before the Supreme Court Treasury headed by Chief Justice Chaudhry.
Four people including Hazar Khan, Mazar Khan, Malik Sher and Javed were earlier produced before the Quetta registry of the Supreme Court.
Voice for Baloch Missing Persons thanked Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary for ensuring the safe recovery of missing persons. “We appreciate the Supreme Court and expect from the Chief Justice that he will also order for the recovery of hundreds of other missing persons,” he told reporters.
The VFBMP, an organisation striving for safe recovery of missing persons, demanded from Chief Justice to hold regular monthly hearing in Quetta so that relatives of missing persons who are living in interior Balochistan could come to Quetta on predetermined dates and record their statements exposing the lies of the concerned officials.

Chief Justice is a Punjabi. I can only wish that the Baloch people understand that good people and bad people are everywhere. This is good news. I am a Punjabi and I am so happy that these people have been recovered. Alhumdulillah! I also pray to Allah for the safe and immediate recovery of the hundreds of others. Ameen! At the same time, I pray to Allah to knock some sense into the minds of the abductors. Allah give us justice and destroy all evil doers!
The difference is that the Establishment (under Musharraf) did oust the judiciary but paid a heavy price for it. After all it led to the ousting of Musharraf himself. I don't think they are in a hurry to oust the CJ again, so they have no choice but to comply with his orders and discretely release the kidnapped 'missing persons' using the hapless local police as intermediaries.
On the other hand the Executive is still half-petrified by the Generals, hence their craven attitude towards the missing people of Balochistan.
No elected leader had the will to recover the missing persons. It was the Chief Justice who twisted the arm of the establishment which is not without risk. We should strengthen the Judiciary and specially this Chief Justice. One can only imagine the joy of the families of those who were produced in court. At least their families know they are alive and well. The irony is that the saviour of these Baloch ( who are so anti other ethnic groups settling in Balochistan) is non other than a Punjabi settled in Balochistan.
