Rehman Malik sends Rs10b defamatory notices to Shahbaz Sharif, Mushahidullah

LAHORE: Federal Interior minister Rehman Malik has issued legal notices worth Rs10 billion to Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif and PML N central secretary information Senator Mushahidullah through his lawyer M Azhar Chaudhry for issuing defamatory remarks against the Minister, sources familiar with the matter while talking to The Express Tribune revealed on Saturday.

Legal notices bearing signatures of both, Rehman Malik and M Azhar Chaudhry, were served to Shahbaz Sharif and Senator Mushahidullah on Saturday, M Azhar Chaudhry while talking to The Express Tribune confirmed.

Chaudhry said that through the legal notices, Shahbaz Sharif and Mushahidullah have been asked to offer an unconditional apology to his client within 10 days otherwise Malik reserves the right to file a civil suit and claim damages worth Rs10 billion.

Shahbaz Sharif and Mushahidullah allegedly made references, which Malik and his lawyer believe were defamatory, during a press conference on March 14 , 2012 and through statements and discussions in subsequent television talk shows. They alleged that Malik, utilising his authority as Interior Minister, had withdrawn funds from accounts of Intelligence Bureau.

@Blithe: And to your maturity and wisdom which sounds more plausible:Rehman getting 10 billion in defemation charges or shehbaz rendering apology.

What is Rahman Malik's worth;10 billion? If true,from where did he get this money/property?Has he paid tax on this hefty amount.One can claim damages according to his material worth.
