LAHORE: Laptops were given to 234 students on Saturday at the Sheikhupura Zila Council Hall. Zaeem Hussain Qadri, special assistant to chief minister on higher education, distributed the laptops. Before the distribution ceremony the students were presented with a guard of honour. Qadri, while addressing the students, said that the derogatory language used for the Punjab government by Asif Ali Zardari reflected “his mentality” and the PML-N did not consider his remarks important enough to respond. He said that Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif will defeat Zardari in the elections. The PML-N member said that Pakistan would prosper after the elections, when PML-N would be in power. He told the students that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was giving them the laptops so they could play their role in the country’s development. In the next budget, he said, the PML-N government would allocate funds for 300,000 laptops. Qadri vowed that the Punjab government will add 800MW of electricity in 28 months and overcome the energy crisis. Sheikhupura DCO Abrar Ahmad Mirza and PML-N members Birgees Tahir, Irfan Dogar, Rana Arshad, Rana Tanveer Hussain and Haji Ghulam Nabi were among those who attended the ceremony.
