LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdur Raheem on Thursday again sought comments from the Township station house officer by April 6 (today) on a petition seeking a case against four people including a Parks and Horticulture Authority official for allegedly stealing football equipment.

The judge had issued notice to the SHO for April 5 at the last hearing on Wednesday, but the police official did not respond. Further proceedings were adjourned as the Lahore Bar Association called a strike to protest the murder of a lawyer in Haroonabad and a robbery targeting another lawyer in Nawankot.

Petitioner Sheikh Yasir Khalil Ahmed submitted that about a dozen men, acting at the behest of PHA Director, took down lighting poles and goalposts and stole uniforms and kits. He said the PHA official was trying to stop the Flying Eagles Football Club from playing at the ground.

He said property worth Rs235,000 that belonged to the club and its players had been lost. He said he had approached the Township SHO with his complaint, but been ignored.
