LAHORE:

As authorities implement the Supreme Court’s verdict on rental power plants, the maritime security agency has taken over the rental power ship owned by Turkish firm Karkey Karadeniz anchored off the coasts of Karachi, while the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has grounded an aircraft owned by a power company officer on the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Representatives of Karkay Karadeniz appeared at the NAB Headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday, before officials designated to deal with high-profile cases, particularly those referred to the bureau chairman by the Supreme Court.

The chief executive of Tehno-E Power appeared before the bureau for a second time on Wednesday while representatives of Pakistan Power Resources, Walters Power International, and Gulf Rental were directed to appear before the bureau on Thursday, Friday and Monday respectively.

Meanwhile, aviation authorities informed NAB that an aircraft owned by Iqbal Z Ahmad, principal officer at Pakistan Power Resources, has been grounded at a hangar in Sukkur.

Similarly, the maritime agency informed NAB that the power ship anchored off Karachi’s coast has been formally taken over.

NAB officials had given representatives of both RPPs until Wednesday to appear before the bureau and deposit the liable amount, about Rs7 billion, within three days.
