Five more people, including a woman, were killed in Karachi late on Sunday night, increasing the death toll to nine in 24 hours.

In Gulshan-e-Iqbal, clashes between the workers of the Awami National Party and the Muttahida Organising Committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement killed two men, police said. One activist from either side was killed in the shootout, SHO Azhar Ali said.

In another incident, a 25-year-old man identified as Murtaza was shot dead in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, while a woman and a man who could not identified until this report was filed, were gunned down in Saddar and Nazimabad.

Separately, unidentified men shot and injured a Pakistan Peoples Party member Syed Mansoor Rizvi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

PPP leader Sohail Abidi, while talking to The Express Tribune, condemned the incident and said the armed men targeted Rizvi outside his office. He was shot four times and was taken to a hospital on stadium road where his condition was said to be critical.
