Flood rehabilitation: ‘Promise of 22 model villages kept’

The model villages had been constructed at a cost of Rs1.6 billion.

“The government has fulfilled its promise of rehabilitating the flood affected through construction of 22 model villages,” Mujahid Sherdil, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) director general, said on Sunday.


He said keys to houses in 14 of the villages had already been handed out to the people. Houses in the remaining eight villages will also be handed over soon. He was presiding over a departmental meeting on Sunday.

Sherdil said the model villages had been constructed at a cost of Rs1.6 billion.

Portable water, schools, dispensaries, solar energy, bio-gas, health centres, veterinary dispensaries, paved streets, livestock sheds, vocational centres were among the facilities provided to the people in the model villages, he added.
