BARA: Security forces destroyed a Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) compound in the Bara subdivision of Khyber Agency late Tuesday night. A political administration official told The Express Tribune that the compound was blown up in the Akakhel area, which has remained a stronghold of the banned tribal militia led by Mangal Bagh. An LI commander known as Polisay would target security checkpoints and blow up schools from the Akakhel centre. However, it haS been vacated by the militants for the last several days. Last week, the LI lost several of its members when a suicide bomber from the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) blew himself up in Kolay village inhabited by the same Akakhel tribe in Tirah, a far-off valley of Khyber Agency.
