Corruption: SI caught taking bribe

Complainant said the SI had taken Rs76,000 for registration of a cross-version in a murder case

FAISALABAD: A Sub Inspector (SI) was remanded for a week after he was caught taking a bribe on Wednesday. SI Mukhtar Bhatti was caught receiving a bribe from one Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Dijkot, in a meeting set up after Mustafa filed a complaint against the SI with the Anti-Corruption Establishment. The complainant said in the application that the SI had taken Rs76,000 for registration of a cross-version in a murder case but was now demanding Rs10,000 more. The raid was carried out by ACE Circle Officer Azeem Warriach and a judicial magistrate Usman Ghani.
