Football: Pakistan granted Rs1.5m by Australia (sport – brief)

The Australian government has granted Rs1.5 million to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) as part of the Australian Sports Outreach Program (ASOP), according to the PFF. Deputy High Commissioner Paul Molloy said that the funds would be used by the PFF on skill development projects in schools and for upgrading football fields in Karachi and Faisalabad. It is the second year in a row that Australia has provided a sports grant to the PFF. “The projects being funded will have a strong focus on promoting youth participation in football,” said Molloy. “Encouraging young people of both sexes to become involved in sport is a key aim of the ASOP.” PFF was also sponsored last year with more than Rs1.7m for similar projects in Liyari and Gilgit, which it completed successfully.
