LAHORE:

The capital city police officer (CCPO) will take action against three police officials for not implementing court orders, the Lahore High Court was told on Monday during a bail hearing.

Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi had issued contempt of court notices to DSP Raza Safdar Kazmi, Inspector Ijaz and Sub Inspector Rizwan for not recording the statement of an accused in a triple murder case and for tampering with supplementary statements.

The DIG (investigations) informed the court on Monday that the inspector and the sub-inspector had been issued show cause notices, and an explanation had been sought from the DSP. He said he did not have the authority to issue a show cause notice to the DSP, but the matter had been referred to the CCPO. Justice Naqvi observed that he could send the delinquent policemen behind bars, but he did not want to make newspaper headlines. He adjourned further proceedings till April 6.
