‘Attempted Murder’: SHO directed to apply correct sections in FIR

LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Nazri Ahmed on Monday disposed of a petition filed by a retired colonel seeking the addition of some charges in an FIR, directing the Race Course station house officer to record the petitioner’s statement and apply the right sections of the law in the FIR.

Col (retired) Shahzad Rafique Malik, director of human resource at the Pearl Continent Hotel, filed the petition seeking the addition of Sections 395 (dacoity), 324 (kidnapping), and 365-A (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act in the FIR. The FIR already includes charges under Sections 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 380 (theft), 436 (arson) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Malik said that accused Sabz Ali Khan, Karamat, Syed Sajjad, Shehzad Anwar and others had opened fire at him at the hotel. He said the accused had taken him hostage and caused terror and panic.

The visiting mayor of Istanbul was at the hotel at the time, he said.
