The Awami Ittehad Party chief said that the prime minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani, was not only committing contempt of court by refusing to write a letter to the Swiss government, but was also making a historical mistake.
Addressing a press conference in Larkana on Sunday, Jatoi said that the PPP demanded justice from the courts when they were in the opposition but now their own prime minister was openly mocking the apex court.
He used the example of fertiliser being sold to peasants at the rate of Rs22 per kilogramme to highlight the party’s ‘double policy’, as he claimed that the actual cost is only Rs13 per kilogramme.
He appealed to the Supreme Court and the Sindh High Court to seize the Board of Revenue’s records, claiming that agricultural land worth Rs26 billion was distributed among jiyalas by tampering with records.
Not leaving anyone out, Jatoi said that from the peon to the police constable, all jobs are being sold. He alleged that out of the 20 grade 17 posts which were filled at a bank of Pakistan recently, 18 candidates belonged to the Zardari tribe.
Jatoi said that even though Rs12 billion was spent on Larkana it resembled Mohenjo Daro. He claimed that 90 per cent of the payment has been made for the 27-kilometre road from Larkana to Mohenjo Daro but only 30 per cent of work has been completed in four years.
Even the flood-affected people have not been spared as the government has usurped their funds while giving them only Rs10,000 through the Pakistan Cards, said Jatoi. He called unemployment, inflation, rising poverty, load shedding, gas shortage and other problem ‘gifts’ from the government to the people.
They didn’t, we will
While speaking of his own tenure, Jatoi said that only 10 per cent power load shedding took place when he was the federal minister for water and power, as opposed to the current 90 per cent load shedding. Commenting on the murder of PPP chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, he said that some of the conspirators are a part of the government. “We will arrest and punish Benazir’s murderers after coming into power,” he added.
The Awami Ittehad Party will observe week-long celebrations when the PPP government comes to an end, announced Jatoi.
Criticising Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Jatoi said that he should be interrogated about Khalid Shahenshah’s murder.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader, Nawaz Sharif, will visit Jatoi’s village, Beto Jatoi, today and later, he will address a public rally in Mehar.
At the event, dozens of workers from different political parties joined the Awami Ittehad, including PML-Q Larkana secretary general Mumtaz Solangi, PPP Qamber-Shahdadkot labour wing president Ayaz Ahmed, Mir Ghaibi Khan Mugehri and Hizbullah Unnar.
