Polio epidemic: Ten-day vaccination campaign begins in Bara

KHYBER AGENCY:

A 10-day polio vaccination campaign was launched in the troubled area of Bara on Saturday. During the campaign, some 4,000 children aged five or below were administered polio drops.

“A 10-day door-to-door polio vaccination campaign has been carried out in Bara, and around 4,000 children have been vaccinated so far,” assistant political agent Bara Bakhtiar Khan Mohmand said.

“The campaign was well-planned and the teams picked those areas of Khyber agency that were ignored by the previous anti-polio teams,” Mohmand added.

He said that transit polio teams were formed at Bara Batah Tal, and were given the task of vaccinating the children of families who enter the Peshawar district.

The official stated that polio teams will achieve their mandate, adding that a 10-day campaign, instead of a three-day one, is needed to achieve their objective.
