KHANEWAL:

The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf is waiting for all corrupt politicians to unite against it so that it can defeat them in one go and rid the country of corruption, PTI chairman Imran Khan said late on Thursday night.

He was speaking at a public rally in Khanewal – last of over 20 rallies PTI has held in southern districts of the province during the ongoing tour. He left for Lahore after the rally early Friday morning. Earlier, Khan had addressed a gathering in Muzaffargarh.

Around seven thousand people were gathered at the Railways Ground in Khanewal to listen to the PTI chairman.

He was accompanied by PTI president Javed Hashmi and Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Khan referred to an earlier statement he gave in response to PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and said that he planned on getting three wickets on one ball.

“Asif Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Fazul Rehman will be clean bowled by the PTI on one ball in the next general elections,” he said. He challenged the three politicians to woo other ‘corrupt politicians’ to their camps so that the PTI could rid the country of corruption by defeating them all and revamp the political system.

He warned corrupt politicians and bureaucrats that the tsunami of Tehrik-i-Insaf was standing on their doorstep. He said the PTI will clean sweep the elections with support from the people of Pakistan.

He criticised Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani for defending ‘his corrupt leader’ and violating the directive of the Supreme Court. “Gillani wants to seek mileage by rebelling against the most sacred institution of the country,” he said.

Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the rallies held in the southern Punjab were testimony to the PTI’s support in the grassroots.

He called upon the audience to say that they were not asked by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) or any other intelligence agency to attend the rally.

Mugging

Several PTI workers complained about mugging at the rally. As many as 20 people told this correspondent that their pockets being picked during the speeches.

Muhammad Rahim, who had arrived from Jahanian, said he lost Rs20,000 and a  cell phone. But, he said, the loss would not stop him from attending PTI rallies in the future.
