MIRPUR:

In broad daylight, land grabbers stormed a site reserved for a children’s park in a residential area on Monday.

The park was to be built for adjoining housing sectors E-1 and E-2. Sources alleged that an official of the municipal corporation allowed an  influential person to occupy the land reserved for the park after receiving a heavy bribe.

Residents said they took the matter to the municipal corporation administrator, who halted illegal construction at the site and dispatched the anti-encroachment staff.

They took to the streets to protest the land grab. They called for immediate action by the AJK prime minister and chairperson Ehtesab Bureau against those responsible of occupying state land.

Meanwhile, no official of the municipal corporation, including the administrator, could be contacted on their mobile phones despite repeated efforts till late tonight for their comments.
