"Given the highly democratic nature of the PTI, there was a "debate and dissension" within the party meetings through which a consensus would be evolved. All the new people who have joined the PTI have accepted the party's ideology. PTI respects all its members equally and no one is vilified or insulted," said Mazari while addressing a press conference here at the PTI central secretariat, flanked by Azhar Tariq, Secretary Finance of the PTI.
Responding to a question about former PML-Q leaders Marvi Memon and Amir Muqam refusing to join PTI, Mazari made it clear that both politicians had been rejected by her party, instead.
She also admitted to PTI chairman Imran Khan signing Memon’s appointment letter as secretary information, adding that it was however not ratified by the party.
"We have a strong democratic tradition in the party and the Chairman respected the party's decision - this is how democracy works," she asserted.
Mazari also contradicted the notion of PTI’s dwindling popularity amongst the masses, claiming that the PTI tsunami was deliberately being controlled so as to allow the party to absorb the large influx of people who wanted to join the party.
She claimed that PTI's tsunami was heading towards southern Punjab and many heavyweights were expected to join the party over the next few days.
"The first wave of the tsunami in southern Punjab would be commencing from Tuesday, beginning with a public meeting in Bahawalnagar and then Imran Khan would address public meetings in Hasilpur, Ahmadpur East, Muzaffargarh and Khanewal," said Mazari.
Providing further details of PTI’s campaign in southern Punjab, Mazari said that Imran Khan wanted to reach out to the people of southern Punjab with his message of change and justice - especially for the youth of the area. And that public meetings would also be held in Sialkot, Mianwali and Abbotabad.
Khan would make another tour of South Punjab later and public meetings would be held in DG Khan and Rajanpur.
Talking about the postponed public gathering in Quetta, Mazari said, "On April 20, a huge public meeting would be held in Quetta and the media would also be informed of the party's scheduled pogram."

Dear all in which other party would the party CEC overturn the Chairman's decision?
ET has no credibility whatsoever. Recently in the notorious interview of Marvi Memon in which she was lambasted by Shahzeb Khanzada about various issues where she chose to give "no comment", all ET extracted out of it was that joining PTI would have been a great mistake.
The daily drama of ET. I wonder why don't they utter a word when it comes to dissension between Nawaz and Shahbaz Shareef
This is good to see. Top leaders in PTI debating various issues means they all are thinking what should be done in the most fair way possible.
I believe this news is very significant because Mazari was one of the loudest critics of electables joining the party and that is why most likely PTI asked her to take the lead on this conference. If I remember correctly, there were fears of her defection from the party at one time as well. If she seems fine with it, that means new-comers and old-workers are starting to get along well for the good of the party, which is a very positive development.
Biased Headline. Just to sell newspaper
Democratic tradition in the party, huh! PTI has been one man show since the beginning, remove IK it is basically a zero and all the other stalwarts gracing it will find their sanctuaries in various established and corrupt political parties in no time. As regards to policy, since when tall promises like "will end corruption in 90 days", "will make Pakistan a Islamic welfare (what is it by the way?) state" became policy? I have noticed that IK has been speaking less last few days, it is good for him and his "movement"; less exposure of intellectual bankruptcy is good until elections are over!
Express tribune - congratulations for the honour of repeatedly coming up with the trashiest headlines. Recall the 'convent school student murder' and now this one. There are many more if one wants to list them.
title is misleading there is no rift in pti
Why is Difference of Opinions labeled as 'Rifts' n 'Cracks' when it comes to PTI?? May be media is not used to Debate & Discussions within political parties because it doesn't happen in other parties. So isn't PTI different :)
It was a complete press conference on different issues by Dr.Shireen Mazari. ET just picked up a small negative point, jiggled with it and made it "Catchy Headline"
Unity in diversity should have been the heading of the news item.Debating and discussing the strategy of the party is a clear indicator that PTIs' senior members are not rubber stamp as is the case with other parties.
@Paindoo: its actually APP reporting, i wonder who made the headline to this excerpt but if i assume its APP than you know better what would it say anyway
Shireen Mazari is a bit of a loose cannon anyway. Imran Khan must have misplaced his thinking cap when he agreed to let her join PTI. He would have been much better off with Marvi Memon, despite the latter's penchant for gross self-aggrandisement. Better to have a matlabi information secretary instead of a mad one.
@Paindoo: OH God, that's so funny! LMAO
Totally biased headlline... Come on... ET... pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase.....
Now paranoid PTI fans will unearth hidden conspiracies behind the headline of the article
The headline of this news item doesn't really relate to what is contained below.. Funny and may be intentional.
Read the headline and then the article. What an anticlimax! She did not admit to a "rift" in the party, she admitted that there is a progressive and democratic debate in PTI; and the decisions are made by mutual consensus. Overall she gave positive remarks about the people who have recently joined PTI and their acceptance of it's ideology. I don't understand the point of the headline and why is it presenting the content of the article in such a wrong way.
Shireen Mazari response to this article on twitter : etribune has builtin bias not only ag PTI & Khan but also me since they stopped by columns after I wrote 2 critical of US.
My love and passion of working for this great party, for Pakistan is reaching new heights!
What an absolute ridiculous heading misleading the readers ET you should be ashamed of twisting news to promote an agenda!!!!
Dissension is beauty of Democracy.
OMG- What biased headline
Zalimo Hisab Do Headline Ka Jawab Do :)
dont worry PTI will double it's tally in next elections.60 year old youth leader imran khan will bring inquilab inshallah.
Thank you Imran Khan and PTI for giving us Hope in democracy otherwise all the socalled parties were busy to end the dream of a democratic Pakistan.
Thank you PTI CEC.
