Gross mistake, realised in time not to join PTI: Marvi Memon

Published: March 15, 2012

Former MNA and a recent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz recruit, Marvi Memon during a Express News show “To the Point with Shahzeb Khanzada”, explained that she is glad that she averted a gross mistake by not joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

Pointing towards the joining of political stalwarts such as Javed Hashmi and others, she said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf had fast become a Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid part two.

Realising this, Memon said she was glad that she had not joined PTI.

Explaining that she had come to this realisation over a period of time rather than overnight, she said “I got lucky that I realised in time, that this change was not what it claimed to be.”

Memon said that the expectations that she, as well as a number of people had with PTI, that they would bring real change, were not met. This, she admitted, was disappointing for everybody, including the PTI which was hoping to take her on board. “When I saw that this had become a PML-Q part two, I could not join it.”

She added that by joining the PTI, she would have continued the same mistake she made in joining the PML-Q, from which she resigned in 2011.

Though she went on to insist that her decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was not for power or money.

Time will tell. BTW, did you apologize for supporting Musharraf ( PLM(N) nemesis ) when he was being impeached? You were probably the only person doing so at that time. Javed Hashmi is much more seasoned and respected politician. His joining PTI brought credibility to the party.

@shahid mehmood, yes she belongs to former member of IJI and aspirant Ameerul Momineen’s party. Recommend

I always took Marvi to be a sensible politician, and it’s her own freewill to join whatever party she wants. But atleast she should do some analysis before going for a decision, and once she takes a decision she should stand by it – atleast for some time…

This program with Shahzeb Khanzada was a total failure for Marvi.

A wise move on her part to join PML-N,
a political party that is not afraid of the establishment, has a clear understanding of maintaining civil / military divide, a party that fought for the independence of the judiciary, etc.

The hypocrisy of PTI has gone beyond insanity. There is too much of a difference between what Imram says and what Imran does.

It will serve you well to understand the Constitution of Pakistan.

PML-n quit the federal government early on principle of restoration of judiciary.
PML-n is the established opposition in the centre .

@Shahid Mehmood!! If you had seen the interview your thoughts may have been different. She was unable describe her own words. She criticizes PTI because its PML Q part 2, thats her hatred towards PML Q at the moment. Madam what would be your response on the alliance between PML like minded & PML N? Doesn’t that seem dirty politics to you? If the crime is same, why is the punishment different madam Marvi. And PML N guys keep bashing PTI for taking PML Q politicians!! Now you welcome what you get?

If Marvi Memon can switch over her loyalty from PML(Q) to PML(N), she can also switch over her loyalty from PML(N) to some other political party for personal gains.

Change of political loyalty is not similar to change of job from one company to another company.

Any person who wants to join any political party must read and understand the manifesto before joining a political party. Nonetheless, all politicians in the country are Hypocrites, as they do not honour their commitments made with the masses during the election campaigns.

  • Zoaib
    Mar 15, 2012 - 11:26PM

LOL. It has become a trend now for politicians to get rejected by PTI and then cry about it and say THEY were the ones who rejected PTI, rather than the other way round. Marvi is one such politician. It was a simple case of no-option-left for her that she chose to join PML-N as joining PPP would have been a negation of all that she had been saying for four years in the public eye. Having joined PML-N however, she’s now finding it hard to justify her decision, especially given how she has been harping on about REAL CHANGE everywhere, most notably on her twitter account.

If PML-N was really a party of CHANGE, they would have changed Punjab. Instead what we see is no local government elections (keeps delaying them for 4 years now) leading to BAD governance leading to calls of separate provinces especially in Southern Punjab.

I am not a supporter of any political party. Before she joined PML(N), I had huge respect for her and I held her in high regards. I would have loved to see her contesting as an independent candidate than associated with PTI or PML(N).

I guess the decision she made is ridiculous and all she needed was a promise of a powerful position. I saw her press conference and all the reason she gave to join Nawaz league were absurd. If any sane and intelligent host counter question her on her remarks in the press conference she will for sure have no answers at all.

  • Syed Shah
    Mar 16, 2012 - 1:16AM

Marvi yes it may seem a political blunder now. But it was not then. Then it was expedient as well as morally correct. Had Musharraf not done NRO and stuck on to power, he was the elected president anyways for the next five years. Had Bibi not been murdered, Mush would have continued.

Had these fairweather cocks the Choudhries not deserted Mush and stood with him and waited, this time round the victory would have been their’s. There would have been three forces. PPP, PMLQ and PMLN and ofcourse some minor ones like ANP and MQM. You see it is all a matter of the values you stand for.

You should have all stuck with Musharraf for an alternative for the people. Would have been good for Pakistan. Don’t you know whenever PPP comes or PMLN the corruption is always at peak and lawlessness maximum. In all likelihood we are stuck with PPP for another 5 years. PMLN with this hate agenda has not a chance. Imran the spoiler is also there. PPP has no plans and offers nothing to the people.

You will see the parliament will continue to be a jagirdar’s club or a capitalists tool. When will it ever be the poor man’s club so that it takes good decisions for poor people and Pakistan and Muslims at large for whom Pakistan was made like India was made for Hindus being the two nations.

You missed a chance to serve the people of Pakistan. Now you will serve a capitalist tool with dictatorial attitude and one who is ruled by hatred and vendetta.Recommend
