One step ahead: Security forces foil March 23 terror plot in Quetta

QUETTA: Security forces in Quetta claimed to have foiled a terror bid, planned for March 23, by seizing a huge quantity of explosive materials and arms on Monday.

According to official sources, acting upon a tip-off, security forces had beefed up security detail at the city’s entry point, after which, personnel at the Buleli Check post intercepted several vehicles. They discovered up to five hundred kilograms explosive materials, seven detonators and six landmines from one of the vehicles.

Talking to The Express Tribune, an official said,“We had information about the smuggling of explosive materials from Afghanistan to Quetta.” The passengers managed to escape, abandoning their car before security personnel reached the vehicle.

The alleged terrorists were believed to have planned on using the explosive materials to launch an attack during the March 23 functions in Quetta.
