PCSIR housing society: FIA investigating Rs12m embezzlement
FIA Punjab Director directed officers to ensure that the names of the accused was put on the Exit Control List.
LAHORE:
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is holding inquiry into the alleged embezzlement of the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) Housing Society funds. FIA officials said that a PCSIR accountant allegedly withdrew Rs12 million from the society’s account. Pervez Aziz, the accountant, was allegedly helped by Aslam Tahir, Zeeshan Afzaal, Malik Aslam and Sabir. The cheque was withdrawn from the Habib Bank Limited, Wapda Town Branch. The investigation is being conducted by the Commercial Banking Circle of the FIA. FIA Punjab Director Waqar Haider on Sunday constituted a raiding team and directed the officers concerned to ensure that the names of the accused was put on the Exit Control List. Muhammad Riaz, secretary of the PCSIR Housing Society, filed a complaint with the FIA requesting a probe when the money was found missing.
