‘Costly’ treatment: Suspect in outpost attack arrested

GILGIT: A man suspected to be involved in a recent attack on a Rangers outpost in Gilgit was arrested by the city police on Tuesday. Police said that the accused, Mumtaz Kawaish, who is an office bearer of the ruling PPP and a resident of Barmas, was arrested from a local hospital while receiving treatment for a wound. The police raided the hospital and arrested the suspect after being tipped off by hospital staff, who suspected that the man’s wounds were inflicted by a gunshot. The suspect is believed to have carried out an attack on a Rangers outpost three days ago and was wounded after the security officials returned fire.
