Tax evasion: LHC asked to disqualify Aitzaz

A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking the disqualification of Aitzaz Ahsan of the Pakistan Peoples Party from his newly-won Senate seat on the grounds of tax evasion.

Petitioner Tariq Mehmood alleged that Ahsan owned 110 acres of agricultural land and owed Rs204,100 in tax on it. He claimed that the PPP leader made Rs1,800,000 a year but did not pay the full tax on his income.
