Alleged abduction: Conflicting medical reports prompt inquiry

PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued directives to the provincial health department for conducting an inquiry into the two contradictory medical reports regarding the pregnancy of Sara, citizen of Mardan, allegedly abducted by Javed and Noor Islam.

According to Jehanzeb Khalil, the counsel representing both the alleged kidnappers, Sara had married Javed in a court of law. He also produced a medical report, conducted inside the jail on January 25, which confirmed her pregnancy.

However, Sara was later swayed by her father to change her statement afterwards, asserted Khalil. Thus, another medical report conducted in Mardan’s district headquarters hospital on March 8 declared her not pregnant.

The Chief Justice (CJ) PHC Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, hearing a bail request filed on behalf of the accused, ordered authorities to conduct a complete inquiry into the two different medical reports and submit details within the next 20 days.
