5.4-magnitude earthquake felt across Gilgit

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on Richter scale jolted Gilgit at around 11.14 am on Monday.

GILGIT: An earthquake measuring 5.4 on Richter scale jolted Gilgit at around 11.14 am on Monday, Met office Gilgit said.

The quake was centred in the Northwestern Kashmir region.

Pakistan was hit by a 7.6-magnitude earthquake on October 8, 2005 that killed more than 73,000 people and left about 3.5 million homeless, mainly in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir and parts of northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
