QUETTA: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Khuzdar, Mastung and Hub areas of Balochistan in protest against the targeted killing of political activists of Balochistan National Party (BNP) on Friday. The strike was called by BNP to condemn the killing of Abdul Waheed and Salman Baloch who were gunned down in Khuzdar a few days ago.  Most of the shops, markets and trading centres remained closed for the day and traffic on the roads was thin. Local administration adopted strict security measures to thwart any untoward incident.  As many as 35 leaders and activists of BNP have been killed in incidents of targeted killings in different parts of Balochistan. Central secretary information BNP-Mengal Agha Hassan condemned the trend. “The government functionaries are involved in killing unarmed political activists. BNP will not be eliminated by killing of its leaders, nor will the party stop its struggle in Balochistan,” he said.
