"This house demands investigation and punishment for those who were responsible for this deplorable act," the resolution said.
"Nato will have to take steps to stop such irresponsible acts in the future," added the resolution, presented by Nayyar Bukhari, leader in the Senate from Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
Violent anti-US protests over the Holy Quran burning killed 40 people in Afghanistan, plunging relations between Nato members and their Afghan allies to an all-time low and forcing US President Barack Obama to apologise.
Protests also spilled over into Pakistan, where the resolution was passed at a farewell session for the outgoing Senate.
Pakistan's parliament is tentatively expected to review Pak-US relations later this month at a joint session that has been repeatedly delayed.
The review is considered key to getting Pak-US diplomatic relations onto a more solid footing after US air strikes killed 24 Pakistani soldiers on November 26 and brought the relationship to its lowest point in years.
The killings capped a disastrous year for an alliance already seriously compromised by a covert raid to kill Osama bin Laden on May 2 and the detention of a CIA contractor who killed two Pakistanis in January 2011.
Islamabad closed its border crossings to Nato supplies and ordered US personnel to leave the Shamsi airbase, reportedly a hub for covert American drone strikes against the Taliban and al Qaeda in Pakistan's tribal belt.

What will happen? Because this is harsh and bitter truth and reality that the beggars and slaves can never be the masters and choosers but always only the followers.
@naeem hussain: well, the 'little things' that happen in Pakistan usually involve the loss of innocent lives.
Qur'an is very sacred to us so I request politicians and people who comment here and entire world that please try to understand this..... Think of any dearest thing to you Quran is as dearest to us and we have every right for this ...No?? is it make us extremist??? please I request to think about it unbiasedly or don't complain about Muslims behavior.Why not you understand that this is so much important for us that for any such activity we can go to any level.I am sad that i have to plead here for our basic rights shame on me and entire Muslim world.
To expect followers of other religions to respect religions other than their own is foolish. That might happen in an ideal world but this world isn't one. How often has Pakistan apologized for every Bible or Gita burned in Pakistan? The reason that such idiotic things happen is because people react to it. If it is ignored this kind of provocation will stop.
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
Shame on you if you are a Muslim@Ahmad:
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: Go ahead. I'll bet you anything they react a lot more sanely. The source of it also makes it pointless. We all know you like to destroy everything non-Muslim, we expect it. I honestly can't name a single positive action Pakistan has ever taken towards the world outside its borders. Not even a small thing.
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: Please let me know where I can send some old Bibles. They don't shred well in the shredder. Next time when the mob goes for torching PAK Christians, ask them to throw it in or they can burn separately when they sing death to America. I am sure indians will be happy to get rid of their old prints as well.
Who cares?. They are just pages of paper.
I would like to know how many of our Muslim law makers read the Quran daily? If the US army personnel did burn some copies delibrately, they must have meant to provoke Afghans which they did. In essence Afghans and their Taliban and Al Qaeda partners invited these 'infidels' from US to come and desecrate their religious belongings in 2001 by attacking them 10,000 km away in New York. So whats the hue and cry now for? You call them 'infidels', 'satan' etc. and still beleive that they will respect you and your religion. All Afghanis and Pakistanis must be living in fools paradise or perhaps too naïve to understand anything. In reality Pakistani parliament is powerless. They only fool the populace by displaying opinion through resolutions on popular issues. When it comes to drone attacks nothing has been done to stop it. The Pakistani Air Chief had said earlier that we can stop them and bring down drones if government orders us, we have not seen such orders or even parliamentary resolutions. Muslims desecrate the lives of other Muslims and non-Mulsims in the streets of Pakistan which is contrary to the teachings of Islam but no condemnation or resolution is seen from this senate. The senate is nothing more than a circus.
My heart goes out for those whose religious sentiment is really hurt, who respect and recite the holy book everyday with passion. The protests have taken more than 30 muslims lives, its not going to bring any positive change in the way the world look at us or the islam, peace, harmony and more consideration from Christians and muslims is required world wide to try and reduce the cultural and religious gap and have more interfaith respect.
Lawmakers! you must be joking. Does any one take these puppets seriously even in their own country!
leave that poor dead horse alone you've gotten as much caring as you're going to get my dear lifelong drama queen victims.
Stop playing politics with Islam and the Quran. If we follow it in true spirit if you really care and maybe the world will have some respect for us.
You have to understand there is no conspiracy against islam.It was unintentional and those who did it perhaps don't even know what Quran is.
Waiting for condemnation on terrorism too.
Quran is the holy book of all Muslims Ummah, no matter where they live in the world.
If burning of Quran is not going to be stopped by non-Muslims, I think that there may come a time when Muslims will also be forced to burn the holy book of the person or group on which he/she/they has/have faith and believe.
To be more precise, if Quran will be burnt by Christians, then Muslims will be forced to burn Bible. Similarly, it the act of burning Quran will take place by a Hindu, then Muslims will be forced to burn Geeta and so and so fore.
Now it is up to non-Muslims that they should stop the practice of exploiting the sentiments of Muslims to create peace and harmony among the believers of different faiths and believes, as every human being is created by Al-Mighty Allah/God and every person irrespective of his/her faith and believe should respect the sentiments of the other person of a different faith and believe.
Is it only condemnable if done by NATO or some western soldiers? I don't recall senate passing any resolution when terrorists burn the copies of Holly Quran in the Ahmadiyya mosqus and some Shia sacred places. Law is not blind in Pakistan as often said in civilized countries.
@Pakistan politics:
Has anything improved since he last spoke? Then why stop?
@naeem hussain:
Burning alive of Christians, churches and bibles in Gojra was a little thing? Just one of many incidents.
Such acts should always be condemned and discouraged, however please demand the punishment for those who destroyed the statues of Budha in Afganistan and burnt bibles in gojra, and shantinagar.
This is extremely serious. Whole Muslim world should stand up against this barbaric act by the so called most just nation of the world. USA is the terrorist sponsored government.
As I am posting, there are 12 comments, all sensible and without any sort of zingoistic balooney. Thanks to all.
@Ahmad:
yes this is not your problem
BUT this is problem of MUSLIMS all around the world
@zalim singh: u love to drag ur minorities talk into every discussion
It is not the first incident. A little thing happen in Pakistan against a minority is highly exploited by the West and their puppets in Pakistan but even burning of Quran is no problem. At least there is no doubt now that it is not Muslims it is Christians, Jews and Hindus who are extremists.
Appreciable..!!
When your inept and can't do the job your assigned - you complain about things you have no control of.
Congratulations, law breakers. You are incapable to do any thing good to the people, but capable of passing numerous useless resolutions. Continue chewing pan and spit on your own faces.
I don't remember senate passing resolution to investigate and punish those who burnt to death the poor Christians, those who assassinated the Shia's and those who systematically kidnap the foreign aid workers, poor Hindu girls, strip women naked, slap the poling workers, ....... ....
How exactly is PAK planning to investigate and punish the Americans. I doubt even the Americans have the legal rights to punish those who incinerated the Quran. It is getting ridiculous in PAK.
The taliban were using the holy qurans to send messages to one another.they defiled the holy quran by misusing it for terrorist purposes.the americans need to condemned for their crime but so do the taliban who were misusing the holy quran in the first place.
Oh At last they woke up to condemn it. Too Late!! Please stop this force conversion...doesn't suit us.
These law makers do not have moral right or credibility to condemn until unless they also condemn burning of all religious books, repeal blasphemy laws, forced conversion and murder of civil society leaders such as Salman Taseer or Bhatti
Shameless lawmakers... why not condemn the killings of Shia Muslims and oppression of Ahmadiyya community?? What about target killings and suicide bombings? Shameless fellows of Senate.!!
nobody has guts to speak against kidnapping and forcible conversion of minorities?
too early, isn't it?
