Encounters: Police cannot kill citizens - LHC
FIR against Lytton Road police for killing Muhammad Asif in a staged encounter.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday observed that police could not be allowed to kill citizens in the name of checking crime.
Justice Shahzad Ahmed Khan made the remarks while hearing a petition filed by Advocate Manzar Ghani, seeking registration of an First Information Report against Lytton Road police for killing Muhammad Asif in a staged encounter.
The judge summoned Civil Lines Superintendent on March 19. The court also ordered the Superintendent to submit a report in writing explaining why Asif had been killed.
Justice Shahzad Ahmed Khan warned the Superintendent that proceedings would be initiated against him and his subordinates if he failed to satisfy the court.
Asif was shot at on January 30, 2012 by Lytton Road police after he did not pull over at a police picket, reads the petition.
