Open road: Traffic allowed on Saudi Consulate road

KARACHI:
The portion of Khayaban-e-Hafiz adjacent to the Saudi Consulate, after being closed for more than a year, was opened for traffic on Thursday. The road was closed in January 2011 due to security concerns following attacks on the consulate by gunmen. According to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) officials, they tried to get the barricades removed but the Sindh Home Department interfered and stopped them from taking any action against the check posts. “Police and Rangers will be stationed at the check posts built along the road for the time being,” said DHA vigilance director Col (ret.) Muhammad Amjad.
