
The three-day international conference on dengue, organised with the help of the World Health Organisation (WHO) concluded here on Wednesday.
The chief minister was to attend the concluding session but sent Khawaja Salman Rafique, his special assistant on health, instead. Rafique appreciated the efforts by the WHO for helping the government in devising a strategy to control dengue.
The Punjab government looks forward to receiving the outcome of the deliberations, he said.
Earlier, the Health Secretary, Captain (retd) Arif Nadeem recommended that “sustainable” dengue control units be set up, surveillance at all levels be strengthened, the Health Information System and the Disease Early Warning System) be integrated better, an outbreak emergency response plan and training and development plan for care providers be devised.
