LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Nazeer Ahmed on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking the registration of a criminal case against former chief minister Dost Muhammad Khosa for allegedly misguiding the court and the police by forging identity documents pertaining to his ex-wife Sapna Khan.

Petitioner Missal Khan had accused the former chief minister of presenting forged documents to the court to seek to establish that Missal Khan was not the father of the missing Sapna Khan. The court had reserved its verdict on the petition since last Wednesday.

In a separate petition pending before the Lahore High Court, Missal Khan had accused Khosa of abducting and murdering his ex-wife, who has been missing since June 2011. Previously, Khosa’s counsel Advocate Zubair Khalid had asked the additional district and sessions judge to halt proceedings until the Lahore High Court decided that petition.

Petitioner’s counsel Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique had argued that the court should order the registration of a fraud case against Khosa since he had prepared a forged birth certificate and submitted it to the police as evidence.

Advocate Zubair Khalid had said that the record of the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) office in Mardan showed that Missal was not Sapna’s father.

He said the police had also investigated the matter and found that Missal was not her father.
