The documentary ‘Saving Face’ focusing on British plastic surgeon Dr. Mohammad Jawad’s return to his homeland to help victims of acid burns, was filmed at the Indus Hospital with all treatment provided to the patients free of cost. The management of The Indus Hospital is proud to be a part of this initiative and congratulates all individuals associated with this project for their milestone achievement and efforts aimed at highlighting the plight of burns victims in Pakistan.
Congrats Sharmeen and Congrats Pakistan, Dear Sharmeen, thank you for making us proud lady, you are the real face of Pakistan :)
Its women like Sharmeen who make us so proudof whatever we are doing...indeed joyous for the women fighting for a cause...am proud of you sharmeen..!!
other perspective : now as this documentary has been awarded Oscars everyone will try to watch it in Europe , US etc . now Pakistanis will grow from being terrorist to those who throw acid at there women. documentary could be excellently made. but I think it is just to give Pakistan popularity in other field also other then terrorism, backwardness ,
At the end I must agree there are woman rights violation but there are lot of basic human rights violation for both man and woman due to jagirdari nizam .
Hearty Congrats, great day for Pakistan, World should know that Pakistanis can do every thing and achieve. Hope we will win other awards in science, IT and other fields. We are not terrorists, we are peace loving people.
What an achievement. We Pakistanis should not be remembered for Terrorists but also for Oscar Winners. We are rich nation and Pakistanis like Sharmeen are gonna prove it soon.
congrats...
Mr. Mohammad,
The fact that acid attacks occur frequently is fact. Hiding it is not going to making it go away. The treatment of women in Pakistan must be exposed internationally: again and again and again, until justice prevails. Women's bodies are their own and they are not responsible for the honor of their family or for the honor of Pakistan. Congratulations Sharmeen!
@Mohammad
So you want us to close your eyes and ignore all bad things happening all around us?! And let them carry on?! How would you feel if such "bad" things happen to someone you know, would you still feel the same?!
haha... my twit is there too!!.... It was an awesome moment when she won!!.... Literally I was shivering... as if I won it!!.... amazing feeling... and amazing achievement for Sharmeen & Pakistan!! .... Thank you for making us proud!!
@Mohammad: Dude. Documentaries are supposed to reveal bitter truth. We have gotten the message and hopefully the policy makers will do something about it. No American documentary will reveal good things about America trust me. This oscar award has shown Pakistani women that sky is the limit for them
omg!! this is not an anti pakistan documentry, it is how resilient and passionalte we are, if one hand destroy the other hand rises up to heal!!! how a pakistan doctor came back to pakistan to give back to his country and cured a woman who had her face burnt!! it is more so on a fact that pakistan is like any other country good and bad comes in parcels but the bad doesnt deter the good and good truimphs evil!!
@ Mohammad- Actually, the documentary shows the positive side of how Pakistanis are fighting against these crimes and how they are dedicated to a better Pakistan. That, in my opinion, is getting a good thing by showing another good thing.
Congrats to everyone, you got a good thing by showing bad things about Pakistan.....it's not the proudest moment for Pakistanis.
Hearty congratulations.
It's no mean feat. may you succeed equally well in your future films too. You inspire me.
