Dengue Prep: LDA squad to start spraying tomorrow

The squad will spray insecticide to kill mosquito larvae at over 150 private housing schemes, 154 katchi abadis.

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has set up a special squad which will spray insecticide to kill mosquito larvae at over 150 private housing schemes, 154 katchi abadis, LDA officials, schools and official residences from Monday. Entomologist Mian Manzoor Ahmed briefed the members of the squad about larvicide techniques and then tested their performance in a workshop at the LDA head office on Saturday. Fawad Amir Chaudhry, the chief coordinator for the LDA’s anti-dengue campaign, said that the LDA had reactivated its dengue helpline (111-111-532). It had also established the Dengue Diagnostic and Treatment Centre at LDA’s Township office which would formally open from Sunday, he said. The centre will be open from 8am to 8pm and offer free blood tests, the results of which will be available in 10 minutes, he added.
