KARACHI:

The police found the body of a newborn baby boy from the bushes in Jumma Goth in Malir on Saturday.

The residents informed Chhipa Welfare Association whose officials called the police to the site.

There is a dispute between Shah Latif police station and Sukkhan police station about whose jurisdiction the body was found in.

The police took the body to Jinnah hospital. It was later  buried in Mewa Shah Graveyard.

However, the police said that they didn’t know who was responsible for  dumping the body and were trying to search for the culprit.

On February 15, five foetuses of girls were found from a garbage dump in Akhtar Colony. A midwife, Nuzhat Aslam, was arrested by the police last Thursday. She confessed to carrying out illegal abortions and said that she used to sell the preserved foetuses to hospitals.
