Petition disposed: ‘No plans for Basant’

Kite Flying Association moved application seeking permission for kite-flying on February 25 and 26, which is rejected

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday disposed of a petition requesting a complete ban on kite flying, after it was informed that the government had no plans to lift the ban for Basant this year. Justice Umar Ata Bandial had sought a report from the District Coordination Officer about whether the district government had any plans for allowing celebration of Basant this year. The DCO told the court that there would be no relaxation of the ban on kite-lfying. He said that the Kite Flying Association had moved an application seeking permission for kite-flying on February 25 and 26, which had been rejected. Petitioner Advocate Ilamudin Ghazi had filed the petition in which he said that government was going to allow Basant on February 25 and 26.
