
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has urged officials in nation-building departments to make sure that development projects are completed on schedule so that their funding does not lapse.
At a meeting to review the Annual Development Programme-2011-12 at his office on Thursday, the chief minister announced the formation of a supervisory committee which will meet each week to review the pace of work on development projects, said a press release.
The CM said that he would visit various districts to review the pace of work on development projects. He said that it was also important that alongside development, cities be made environmentally-friendly. He said greenbelts should be developed along roads and special attention should be paid to waste management.
Planning and Development Board Chairman Javed Aslam gave the meeting a detailed briefing on development projects of various departments and use of funds. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said Punjab was doing better in implementing its ADP. Chief Secretary Nasir Khosa said that the development schemes would be completed by June.
