Will withdraw cases against Bugti, other Baloch leaders: Malik
Speaking to the media after a meeting on Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan, Malik said that there has to be a political solution to the Balochistan issue and that action needs to be taken to save the country.
He added that he had asked Balochistan, Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) provincial president Shahzain Bugti and Bilal Bugti to choose their leaders whom the government would talk to, but nothing had transpired in this regard.
Showing his discontent for those "who were never satisfied with the government" he said, “Where do we go? We are criticised whether we call an All Parties Conference (APC) or if we don’t”.
“The APC, which is being called for the resolution of the Balochistan issue is now being opposed.”

@Chengez K: It should not be respected in Pakistan either. This system is what is keeping the people of Balochistan poor and the province underdeveloped. It is in the interests of the Sardars to keep their people deprived of their basic rights, and it was because Musharraf tried to change that that some Sardars rose up against him. Musharraf tried to develop the province, break the power of the Sardars and empower the people, and that is why he was faced with rebellion by these Sardars.

Its not the pre-1971 Pakistan! Lay off!!!!! . Balochis love Pakistan (I know many in London). Balochistan is not thousand miles away. 50% of its population is non Pushtun (who have lived there for decades and dont know any other place!) who are against this insurgent movements. Balochis are pro Pakistani (with exception of 5% area that is quite backward). . Every year, thousands of Balochis join Pakistan army and fight against insurgents. . Population of Balochistan is less than 5 Million (half non Balochis) as compared to 75 Million Bengalis in East Pakistan. . Balochis have studied in Urdu (with optional Balochi subject), unlike Bengalis in East Pakistan. They have stronger ties with Pakistan. Islamic values in Baloch society are also very traditional. . We do not have 1000 miles gap with Balochistan and a very long border. . The senator who presented resolution in Congress is a known joker who has done that for KHALISTAN MOVEMENT too. . If this is your attitude, its very happy that we have not honoured any agreement with the likes of you (who claim friendship but have a vile agenda against my country) . Things have changed and we have moved on quite a lot...
May be what he means is old charges will be withdrawn and new one will be layed until unless------

what does he mean by "IF" he should withdraw the cases immediately and promise full security. But I doubt Rehman Malik means it that is why there is an 'If'
These Bugti & Marri Boys who are asking for NATO help should remember the end of Messrs Saddam & Qaddafi.Both tried to be best friends of U.S, one was hanged on Eid day & other was sodomised before being slaughtered by the agents of NATO.
Even Mujeeb was killed along with his family by U.S trained Bengally army officers after he had been used to break Pakistan.
Do these Sardar boys really believe that U.S will allow their Sardari..an antique concept present only in poor Balochistan in the whole world.
These young turks should understand that their Sardari will only be respected in our beloved PAKISTAN.
Pakistan govt should rather than talking silly start massive development projects for the people of Baluchistan while continuing with political dialogue.
We call them foreign agents, but the fact is that all these so called foreign agents will have to be engaged in talks. But this time I fear for the federation. Things have gone out of hand. Young baloch fighters do not care about sardars and tribal elders. If you go to balochistan, it seems like a huge garrison.
Sardars are corrupt, but so was Mujib of Bangladesh, but bengal nationalism made him a leader. Sad to see that in Punjab the attitude is of conspiracy and nothing else. We just might be giving away another province to the enemies. It is Heart Wrenching.
@Silent Spectator: Under the NRO only the restoration of the judges is kosher all the rest is not fair. In addition the extensions to Gen Kayani, Gen Pasha and PCO SC CJ are all fine by the NRO Govt, but the problem is when civilian political leadeers benefit from NRO. Where is the justice and fairness?

They are not interested in the withdrawal of cases. As long as they maintain anti Pakistan stance and keep obeying the directives of their foreign masters they will keep on enjoying the patronage and hospitality of their foreign masters. Who can leave the luxurious life of Switzerland and UK.
The army has ruled the country for the better part of its history with totalitarian powers. What have they done to promote education, break sardari system, and free the people of Balochistan? Stop blaming the sardars and concentrate at the atrocities unleashed on Baloch men. Why drop the cases when they come back? Why don't we drop the cases now? Better have them quashed by the SC, so nobody could use the decades old cases against them or the elected govt. For some any action by the elected govt would mean nothing and they are going to oppose it anyway. These atrocities like surrender of E. Pakistan, OBL's presence, Mehran Base and murder of Mr. Bugti had nothing to do with any elelcted govt.
What an irony that the beneficiaries of the wretched NRO are promulgating another NRO-kind of deal to save themselves and other politicians. While this setup may work for a select few, deals like these are detrimental to Pakistan, its masses, and the legal system. What a shame that the rich and powerful can get their cases withdrawn painlessly while the poor masses spend their lives and savings to defend themselves endlessly in courts.
I think everyone should read, Testimony of Ralph Peters, military analyst and author “PAKISTAN AS A FAILING EMPIRE” and draw your own conclusions about the ills that plaque Pakistan.
@ Mustafa Moiz; India can not be wished away from any of such discussions as most of these disputes have their roots in pre-partition Indian history. Bloch were very much our brothers till 1947. If Pakistan has divine rights to fight for Muslim cause world over, we Indians have the right at least to fight for the cause of pre-partition Indians. To me the name Brahamdagh itself sounds very much of locan origin and not the Arabic one.
With over 6,000 dead and missing it's apparent that dropping legal charges has nothing to do with safety in Balochistan. It's also pretty clear that until the Civilian govt demonstrates control over the military that any negotiations by the govt is meaningless.

That proves the cases are fake and politically motivated. Why would you withdraw cases if they are genuine? Balochistan is not your personal property in which you can pick and chose the cases case you prosecute or withdraw? You are a servant of the people of Pakistan and your job is to prosecute every genuine case with full vigor of the law. Will Bloch leaders ever trust Pakistan on such offers after getting deceived so many times in past? Pakistan signed many peace agreements with India also. Has Pakistan ever honored those peace pacts?
Why do the Baloch need sardars, who are rich beyond imagination? What have they ever done for the common Baloch people?
They will not be safe in Pakistan. Look what they did to Nawab Bugti.
