PESHAWAR: Three people were killed when a landline exploded in the Sipah area of Bara in Khyber Agency, officials said on Wednesday.

So far, only one person has been identified as Sahib.

Sipah is considered to be a strong hold of the Lashkar-e-Islam against whom security forces have been carrying out an operation for the last three years in Bara.

The use of Improvised Explosive Devises (IEDs) and landmines have been increased by the militants as many of their strongholds are now under the control of the security forces.

However, the war has now shifted to a more strategic level where the use of explosive devices usually target civilians.

In a separate incident, an explosion took place near a security forces convoy in the Sro Kali area of Charsadda close to Mohmand Agency.

No casualties were reported in the blast. According to official sources, the explosion took place in the Sro Kali locality of the Shabqadar area in Charsadda, where a vehicle of the levies forces came under attack when a roadside bomb went off.
