Property survey begins: What did Hindus leave behind in 1965, 1971?

A survey of the properties left behind by the Hindus who migrated to India during the wars of 1965 and 1971 has begin in four talukas of Sukkur.

The team of the federal ministry of communication will get the details of more than 700 acres of agricultural land, 300 houses, over 200 shops, factories, schools and warehouses in Sukkur city, Rohri, Pannu Aqil, Saleh Pat.

Revenue officials will help the team to ensure whether the occupants had the legal documents for their properties.

Naimatullah Sheikh, who is leading the survey team, said that initiatives were being taken on the directives of the federal government. He said that they had their first meeting with the district administration on the issue.

A survey would also be conducted in other areas of the province where thousands of acres of land and other properties were occupied by the locals. They met the deputy commissioner of Sukkur, Syed Sumair Ahmed, on Tuesday.
